Bahati now claims he was offered Sh 50 million to step down from Mathare race

Mathare MP aspirant Kevin Bahati now claims he was offered a bribe of Sh 50 million to drop his bid.

The popular singer made this claim on Wednesday during an interview at a local radio station.

Bahati who is vying on a Jubilee party ticket claimed those who approached him include the incumbent MP Anthony Oluoch asking for his support.

The political newbie said he was offered the money and a promise of a job in the Azimio government, all of which he resisted.

Bahati further accused his opponents in the race of not being residents of Mathare.

Bahati has been on cross roads with among others ODM’s Edwin Sifuna and Rachel Shebesh over his candidature.

The Azimio coalition settled on Anthony Oluoch as their candidate for Mathare constituency, urging Bahati to step down and support the coalition’s candidate.

It a press conference, Bahati insisted on vying for the seat accusing Sifuna of sabotaging his bid.

Kevin Bahati is well known for his popular hut songs Mama and Machozi that brought him to the limelight while still doing gospel music.
